Knightstown Indiana Forced to Remove Christmas Cross

Knightstown Indiana Christmas Cross - Indiana ACLU (3)

This makes me very sad to share this — This statement was just released by the Knightstown Town Council:

It is with regret and sadness that the Knightstown Town Council has had the cross removed from the Christmas tree on the town square and is expected to approve a resolution at the next council meeting stating they will not return the cross to the tree. We could not win the court case brought by the ACLU. We would have been required to pay the legal fees of the ACLU lawyer and monetary damage to the plaintiff, Mr. Joseph Tompkins, as set by the Court. This is our statement based on advice from our legal counsel.

Locals began responding to the potential order for the cross to be removed by placing their own lighted cross on their property. If one small cross that has been stitched into our local tradition has caused such “irreparable harm” to this man, I'd say he is in for a long holiday season. It looks like Knightstown is in the process of becoming Crosstown until we ring in the new year. My husband and I have proudly joined the movement with our own cross display.

A couple of nights ago, my husband and I took a short drive around town to capture images of some of the crosses being displayed. Here’s what we have now with plenty more coming I’m sure.

When you have a holiday that focuses on peace, family, tradition and giving, Christian or otherwise, it takes a sad individual to take any of that away from people. As a local living in the Knightstown area, I am absolutely disgusted by the actions of Mr. Tompkins. Especially when my husband and I drove by the home where he is said to be living with his mother and saw Christmas decorations, a tree and plenty of lights.

This lawsuit was purely about power and money. Rest assured, the people of Knightstown and surrounding areas will respond and we will become a sea of crosses that Mr. Tompkins cannot avoid.

I Think YOU Should Look at What Group In America Supports The ACLU… With Large Sums Of Money. Based On Their Percentage Of The American Public. They Hate ‘Christians’ They Just Do It In a Underhanded way. Like Thru The ACLU.

It always amazes how important religious symbols are to those who claim no religion. They are compelled to persecute those who do not think as they do, yet they demand the right not to have a religious belief.
